Outreach & Service

St. Paul’s is passionate about making a difference in our community & world. Motivated by our faith, we partner with many local and international organizations to bring greater wholeness, healing and justice. Here are some of the ways we share our time and resources:

  • Every Sunday, we offer English as a Second Language and U.S. Citizenship classes for our friends from the Montagnard community, many of whom came to the U.S. as refugees.

  • On the first Sunday of every month, we collect non-perishable food donations for Urban Ministries and the Salvation Army.

  • Several times throughout the year, various groups at St. Paul’s provide breakfast for the 60+ women living at the Helen Wright Women’s Center.

  • Our newly-formed Green Team is exploring ways St. Paul’s can address climate change, become more energy-efficient, and better care for the environment. So far we have started a composting program to reduce our waste and have installed motion-sensor lights in our bathrooms. We are looking into the possibility of installing solar panels on our buildings.

  • Each spring, we help sponsor and build a Habitat for Humanity home with Habitat of Wake County’s Interfaith Build, working alongside people of many religions to provide safe, affordable housing.

  • Every summer, our youth (and some adults) spend a week serving on a mission trip, learning about our neighbors and connecting our faith and actions. Past trips have included Guatemala; Washington, DC; Nashville, TN; Hickory, NC; and even our own city of Raleigh.

  • St. Paul’s regularly supports Week of Compassion, the disaster relief and development agency of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), to help with recovery and rebuilding efforts after hurricanes, tornadoes and other disasters.

  • Other groups we support and partner with include the Interfaith Food Shuttle, Alliance Medical Ministry, Meals on Wheels, and A Place at the Table.
